Question 1. Troubleshooting common pool vacuuming problems.

No suction: (Either) The hose has come off of the basket, the filter has lost its prime (not sucking water) or the hose has a leak (make sure you've got the proper end of the hose on the vac head). If you have more than one suction line, be sure you're drawing from the proper one. Dirty water returning to the pool: If you have a sand filter, DO NOT BACKWASH THE FILTER BEFORE VACUUMING. Back-washing stirs up the sand & prevents good trapping of dirt for several HOURS. In cartridge or DE filters, take apart filter and inspect. I vacuum for a few minutes & then it doesn't work anymore: How dirty is the pool? If it's REALLY dirty, you may be better off vacuuming to direct waste (sand filter).  Make sure you scoop as many leaves out as possible as they will also cause a loss of suction.

Question 2. How should I store chemicals?

All Chemicals should be kept in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area and stored away from pets and children.

Question 3. How much DE do I add to my filter?

To find out how much DE is required for your filter, check the label on your filter tank and find the filter size. Filter sizes are in sq.ft. and are 24, 36, 48 or 60. Divide this number by 10 and it will give you the amount of pounds of DE to add to the filter. Example: I have a 48 sq.ft. filter so I add 4.8lbs of DE.

Question 4. Do you clean filters?

Yes, we clean pool and spa filters. Please wash & bring them to the store in a large plastic bag and mark them in black permanent marker with your last name. Depending on our service schedule it usually takes a few days to complete the cleaning. Please contact us for more information and pricing.

Question 5. Do you have spas in your showroom?

Yes! We have several models of Jacuzzi’s in our showroom. There are a variety of shell and cabinet colors featured so you can choose which you like best. You can sit in the spas to feel how comfortable the seats are as well as bring your family in to find the right size for you.

Question 6. When should you drain your hot tub?

The water in your spa should be drained and refilled completely about every 3-4 months. Before draining, add Spa Purge to flush the lines out of any build that may have accumulated. To drain any spa, simply remove the drain caps and turn the valve at the base of the equipment panel and allow water to fully empty. Attach a regular garden hose to the drains if you would prefer the water drain to another location. You can also use a small submersible pump to drain the water from the spa. We have these available and recommend this process.  We recommend cleaning the shell with Clean & Perfect, a product that will remove any scale and grime buildup left behind. Also, we recommend cleaning your filters every time you drain your spa.

Question 7. I've heard that having a swimming pool can be a lot of work. How much work is involved in owning and caring for a swimming pool?

In the past, pool maintenance was more of a chore. But with today's technology and conveniences, owning a swimming pool is easier than owning a car! Pool chemical testing and maintenance, cleaning, and pre-programmed filtration and heating can all be automated. Automatic pool cleaners and various sanitizing devices also make your pool simple to maintain. Your only concern will be finding more time to enjoy your pool or spa!

Question 8. What other products do carry that will help with maintenance?
